Simplify Your Giving with Donor Advised Funds

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often your fund gives money to PBS Fort Wayne or other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants, now to make an immediate impact, or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.  You will receive a tax deduction for the total amount of your gift to your DAF in the year you open the fund.

You can name PBS Fort Wayne as the beneficiary of the entire account, or a percentage of the fund; it’s your choice. You can also name other family members as your successors, who can then recommend grants to PBS Fort Wayne or other charitable organizations in the future. To do this, please get in touch with your fund administrator to obtain a beneficiary form and ensure it is kept up to date.

An Example of How It Works:

John and Elaine want to make a positive impact on local charities by investing their money where it will do the most good. They establish a $25,000 donor-advised fund with a National Fund Manager, their financial planners and other local foundations.

The couple receives a federal income tax charitable deduction for the total amount in their DAF, for example: $25,000 for John and Elaine. This also gives them time to decide which charities to support. The fund will grow tax-free, allowing them to make gifts to their favorite organizations.

After researching community needs, John and Elaine recommend grants for PBS Fort Wayne (which they’ve supported for years), or other charities. If desired, they can name PBS Fort Wayne as the beneficiary to receive the account balance after their lifetimes. John and Elaine are delighted to start this personal legacy of giving.
