On Wednesday, January 20, our program schedule will experience changes beginning at 10:30AM  with “Inauguration of Joseph R. Biden Jr.: A PBS NewsHour Special.”

This special will include the swearing-in of the 46th President of the United States Joseph R. Biden Jr. and the 49th Vice President of the United States Kamala D. Harris.

The broadcast will be anchored by managing editor Judy Woodruff, with contributions from White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor, Capitol Hill correspondent Lisa Desjardins, senior national correspondent Amna Nawaz, national correspondent William Brangham and foreign affairs and defense correspondent Nick Schifrin, among other TBD NewsHour talent and guests.

PBS NewsHour will provide anchored coverage through President Biden’s afternoon arrival at the White House. Coverage will continue, unanchored, through the conclusion of the virtual inaugural parade which is expected to start between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM and is expected to last 60-90 minutes.

All regularly scheduled programs normally airing on our main channel, 39.1, will be pre-empted for this coverage.

Additionally, Governor Eric Holcomb’s weekly update on Indiana’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, normally seen beginning at 2:30PM Wednesday afternoons on channel 39.1, will now be seen at the same time, but on Thursday, January 21 at 2:30PM instead.

Later Wednesday evening, beginning at 8PM, the regularly scheduled programs, Nature The Alps: Winter’s Fortress and NOVA’s Decoding DaVinci, normally seen at 8:00PM and 9:00PM respectively, will be pre-empted by the program “Celebrating America: PBS NewsHour Presents” airing from 8:00PM-10:00PM.

This new program will consist of live, anchored PBS NewsHour coverage of the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s “Celebrating America” program that will culminate the inauguration events. The primetime special will include live remarks from Biden and Harris, and performances from a variety of guests.

The pre-empted Nature program noted above will now be aired at a later date.  The Alps: Winter’s Fortress will now air on Wednesday, January 27 at 8:00PM. It will replace the previously schedule episode on that date and time, Octopus: Making Contact.

In addition, the episode of NOVA, Decoding DaVinci which will be pre-empted, will not be aired, but is available for streaming for free at https://www.pbs.org/video/decoding-da-vinci-93ssvo/ and also on the PBS Video app.
