Entrants are asked to share their own original photo of local nature — the wildlife that is a part of our everyday life in our backyard, parks or captured in outings at local trails and preserves.
It could be an animal, a towering tree or tiny flower.
Photos captured by you can help others connect with nature, see the beauty that surrounds us and assist with local and national nature preservation efforts.
Photos can be taken with a camera or a cell phone, but they must be of high resolution to be able to be printed (300dpi recommended and 8-inch by 10-inch physical size).
12 photos will be chosen for an exhibit that will travel to area libraries in October. The photos will go into a 2021 calendar that each finalist will receive as a prize. The three top entries will get additional prizes (PBS Fort Wayne Passport for 1 year+ additional gift package from PBS Fort Wayne).
Entering is Easy!
Step 1. Upload a photo to your personal Instagram account or personal Facebook account. Make the post public so it could be seen.
Step 2. Caption your image and include #PBSFortWayne #AgeofNature in your post. Include in your caption where the photo was taken.
Step 3. Follow PBS Fort Wayne at @pbs39ftwayne on Instagram and @PBSFortWayne on Facebook.
The contest is open only to Indiana, Ohio and Michigan residents of all ages. Employees of PBS Fort Wayne and members of their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) are not eligible to enter. You can submit up to three (3) entries.
The submission period began at 4:00PM on August 12, 2020 and ended at 11:59PM on September 18, 2020.
How to enter:
You may enter up to three times, but each entry must be a unique photo.
Entries must be posted or re-posted from a public account during the contest period. You cannot simply “tag” an older photo. Those posted from private accounts and/or posted outside of the entry period will not be considered eligible. Those posted without the two contest hashtags will not be considered eligible.
Those unable to submit an entry via Instagram or Facebook may send the photo and caption, along with your name, and contact information to PBS Fort Wayne via email at email@example.com.
Judging or voting:
Voting begins at Noon ET on Monday, September 21 and ended at 5:00pm ET on Friday, September 25.
Votes to be counted are “Likes” accumulated, per image, inside the Age of Nature Photo Contest Album on the PBS Fort Wayne Facebook Page; “Likes”/Votes accumulated as part of the submission phase of this contest and/or received on personal pages will not be eligible.
You are encouraged to tag your friends directly in the Age of Nature Photo Contest Album in the comments to the individual images, share the direct link to the PBS Fort Wayne Nature Photo Contest album or share direct links to the individual images from PBS Fort Wayne Facebook page.
The top vote getters will be notified by PBS Fort Wayne via direct message on Facebook, Instagram or via email once the final votes are tallied. All winners must sign a release form allowing PBS Fort Wayne to use their images as specified in the rules part of the contest (see https://pbsfortwayne.org/ageofnature/photocontest/ for complete rules and release waiver).
If a winner does not return the release promptly (within 48 hours) or chooses not to sign the release of their image for PBS Fort Wayne as part of this contest, an alternate winner (the entry receiving the next highest number of votes) will be chosen and notified.
Finalists will be announced, and the winning images shared on PBS Fort Wayne’s Facebook page on Tuesday, September 29.
Three winners will each receive a complimentary PBS Fort Wayne Passport membership (valued at $60), and other prizes at PBS Fort Wayne’s discretion.
All 12 finalists will also receive a 2021 calendar that will have their winning photo included in it. The selected images will also be a part of the traveling exhibit at the local area libraries in October 2020.
