PBS Fort Wayne creates, produces and broadcasts four live shows from our studio in Fort Wayne weeknights (Monday-Matters of the Mind, Tuesday-HealthLine; Wednesday-Life Ahead; Friday-Primetime39).

“arts IN focus” which airs Thursday nights at 7:30pm on 39.1, is pre-produced on-location and in the studio as a weekly arts magazine show.

The other programs are broadcast live, featuring professional hosts and special guests from around the region while offering you a chance to call-in with your questions on a variety of topics and interests.

Since March 2020, members of Allen County’s Coronavirus Task Force and other civic leaders have gathered in the PBS Fort Wayne studio Friday nights at 7:00pm to participate in a special live one-hour call in program. The show also features a phone bank comprised of health care professionals assisting callers with their questions about resources, response and the latest on the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Begun during the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020, and airing Monday nights at 7:30pm, these special editions of Matters of the Mind hosted by Dr. Jay Fawver feature a half-hour roundtable discussion with area mental health care professionals about the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on mental health.

Violins of Hope: The Violins Live On

This special, recorded in concert at the Rhinehart Center For The Performing Arts, Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday, November 10, features works by three Jewish composers linked to the Holocaust, giving a modern voice to the violins that have survived and lived on. This special concert event was part of Violins of Hope Fort Wayne, which took place in November 2019.

Works by Lukas Foss, Erwin Schulhoff, and Philip Glass are performed with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Orchestra plus  with special guests including Ashlee Bickley, mezzo-soprano, Shelby Lewis, narrator, Violetta Todorova, violin, and Kevin Wang, piano.

The Science Minutes series engages young viewers on a variety of science and technology topics. These short demonstration videos are funded by a grant from the PNC Foundation and produced through a collaborative partnership between Science Central and PBS39 of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Entrepreneurial Energy

Entrepreneurial Energy looks at the past, present, and future of innovation and invention in Northeast Indiana. This hour-long documentary focuses on the “entrepreneurial ecosystem” nurturing individuals, startups, and the organizations in the region supporting entrepreneurs from “end to end.”

In this documentary production, PBS39 celebrates the past and present entrepreneurial achievements of the area by telling the stories of individuals, companies, and organizations that give Northeast Indiana a special quality of place for entrepreneurs to succeed. Historical images and research reveal the impact early inventors and business mavericks contributed to the landscape. Successful entrepreneurs share their business philosophies and give advice to those just starting out.

Finding the Fix: A Local Perspective

‘The Opioid Crisis: Healing our Community with Hope’ features interview segments with experts who address various aspects of the opioid crisis in northeast Indiana, including the scope of the problem, how addiction starts, treatment, and showcasing addiction recovery is possible. Viewers were able to call in during the broadcast to ask questions of licensed health professionals.
